California's Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) has become the basis for a growing wave of lawsuits and demand letters targeting businesses that use common website technologies such as cookies, tracking pixels, analytics tools, and online forms. Dental practices may be affected even when these technologies are implemented by website developers, marketing agencies, or third-party vendors.

This program provides a practical overview of CIPA and its potential application to dental practice websites. The presenters will explain how common website features may create legal risk, discuss the relationship between CIPA, HIPAA, and other privacy requirements, review recent litigation and legislative developments, and identify steps dental practices can take to reduce potential exposure.
